Monthly Yin, Myofascial Release (MFR)+ Rest Practices. Give your body and mind more time to soften, release tension and settle.

Deep Release is a monthly weekend 90-minute class at The Barn, Houlton, held from 9.30–11am. It blends Yin Yoga, myofascial release and supported rest practices, giving you space to explore one area or theme in more depth than a regular weekly class.

If your weeks are full, your body feels tight, or your mind rarely gets chance to switch off, this session gives you a proper pause point in the month. It’s time to release what has built up, settle your system and leave feeling clearer for the rest of the day.

Some months may focus on easing tension in the hips, shoulders, back, legs or feet. Other sessions may explore rest more practically, such as how to set yourself up for a deeply comfortable savasana using blankets, bolsters and pillows.

This is a slower, more spacious practice designed to help you release tension, soothe the nervous system and feel calmer, softer and more at ease.

What It Is

Deep Release is a slow, floor-based practice that gives the body time to unwind.

In this class you can expect:

  • Yin Yoga postures held for several minutes
  • Myofascial release using therapy balls
  • Gentle breathwork to help the body settle
  • Supported rest using props
  • Occasional Yoga Nidra or extended relaxation
  • Practical tips to help you feel more comfortable in stillness

The practice is steady, spacious and accessible, with plenty of options offered throughout. You will be encouraged to work with your own body and find useful sensation rather than the strongest sensation.

What Makes It Different

Deep Release is the monthly companion to my weekly Deep Stretch Yin class.

While weekly Yin offers a regular rhythm of stretching and slowing down, Deep Release gives us more time to explore a particular focus in greater depth.

One month might be centred around hips and lower back tension. Another might focus on shoulders, neck and jaw. Another might be a deeply restful session exploring how to make savasana feel more supported and comfortable.

The aim is not just to relax during the class, but to help you understand what supports your body, so you can carry that into everyday life, whether that’s after work, before bed, or during a busy week when you need to reset.

Who This Is For

Deep Release is perfect if you:

  • Feel tension building in your body during the month
  • Spend a lot of time sitting, driving, working at a desk or rushing from one thing to the next
  • Want to move less, slow down more and give your body time to catch up
  • Want practical tools for rest, recovery and nervous system support
  • Enjoy Yin Yoga and would like a deeper, more spacious monthly practice

No previous yoga experience is needed. This class is suitable for most levels, including beginners, and options will be offered throughout.

The Art of Savasana
Learn how to set yourself up for a deeply comfortable rest using blankets, pillows, bolsters and simple adjustments.

Yin + Myofascial Release for Hips and Lower Back
A slow practice to ease tension around the hips, glutes and lower back.

Shoulders, Neck + Jaw Release
A calming session for upper-body tension, screen posture and stress-holding patterns.

Feet, Calves + Hamstrings Reset
A grounding practice for walkers, runners, gym-goers or anyone who spends a lot of time on their feet.

Sleepy Yin + Yoga Nidra
A deeply restful evening practice with gentle Yin, supported stillness and guided Yoga Nidra.

Full Body Deep Release
A rounded practice to unwind the whole body and settle the mind.

What To Bring

Please bring:

A yoga mat
Two yoga bricks or blocks, if you have them
A bolster or large rectangular pillow, if you have one
A blanket
An eye pillow, if you like using one

I will have some blankets, bolsters, eye pillows and myofascial release balls available to borrow if needed.

Props are strongly recommended, as they help your body feel more supported and comfortable in the longer-held postures and rest practices. You don’t need to have everything before you come, but bringing any props you already have is helpful.
