It started with one of those everyday moments. I was making a cup of tea and realised my mind was already somewhere else, caught up in a conversation that hadn’t even happened yet. My body was in the kitchen, my mind off doing its own thing. I’m guessing that feels familiar.
That tiny moment became the spark for my new vinyasa series, Crossing Paths. On the mat we do the same thing. One side leads, the other hangs back. One leg feels steady, one arm a step behind. We go through shapes on autopilot without noticing how the left and right sides of our body and our brain hemispheres are trying to talk to each other.
Over the next few weeks in our vinyasa flow classes in Rugby we’ll invite left and right to really connect. Movements that cross the midline, like Eagle, Eagle Down Dog, Eagle Side Plank and Crouching Eagle, ask both sides of the body and brain to show up. Little kundalini taps bring your attention back into the body and highlight the spirals, twists and lifts that make these poses so alive.
Eagle is a great example. It’s about noticing how your left and right sides work together, finding steadiness in the wrap and enjoying the balance. You can keep a toe on the floor, rest on a wall, hold behind the thighs or place one foot on a block to make it work for you. Want a deeper experience? Try Crouching Eagle and let your legs and arms spiral and connect fully.
This series is about noticing, connecting and having a conversation between left and right. Every twist, lift and wrap is part of that dialogue, on the mat and off it.
I love bringing people together on the mat, whether it’s to move, stretch or simply pause and breathe. Explore my classes, events and retreats!
