New Weekly Yin Yoga Class in Rugby

I’m so excited about this. A brand new weekly Deep Stretch Yin class is coming to Houlton School from Thursday 10 September, running from 7.20pm to 8.35pm.

This will be a slow, steady, spacious class designed to help you unwind at the end of the day. We’ll use long-held floor-based postures, breath awareness and plenty of support from props to help the body soften, release tension and settle.

Unlike a more dynamic yoga class, Yin gives us time. Time to pause. Time to breathe. Time to notice what has built up through the week and gently begin to let it go. It’s not about pushing or forcing your body into a shape. It’s about finding the right level of stretch, staying with it, and giving your nervous system a chance to downshift.

Each class will focus on a different area of the body, such as the hips, hamstrings, lower back, shoulders, chest or spine. Some weeks may feel more deeply stretchy, while others will be softer and more restful. The thread running through it all will be the same: creating space in the body and calm in the mind.

This class is a good fit if you spend a lot of time sitting, standing, driving, working at a desk, carrying tension in your shoulders, or generally feeling a bit folded in by life. It’s also a lovely balance to stronger practices, running, gym work, cycling or busy family life.

You don’t need to be flexible to come. In fact, this class is especially helpful if you feel tight, tense or in need of a proper stretch. You’ll be encouraged to use props, take options and make the practice work for your body.

Please bring a yoga mat, a blanket and a couple of cushions or a bolster if you have one. Warm layers are also a good idea, as the body cools down during slower practices.

Deep Stretch Yin starts on Thursday 10 September at Houlton School, from 7.20pm to 8.35pm.

Bookings are now open, and spaces are limited.

A weekly pause. A deep stretch. A chance to leave the day behind and come back to yourself.
