By March, I’m usually ready for the lighter mornings and the first signs of spring. But that doesn’t always mean my energy has caught up.
Late winter can feel like a bit of an in-between time. The darkest months are beginning to ease, but we may still feel tired, stiff or in need of warmth. It can be tempting to rush straight into spring and start doing more, when perhaps what we really need is a little time to rest, move and slow down before we speed up again.
That feeling inspired Rest + Reawaken, my new Late Winter Yoga Day Retreat at PAUS, near Cambridge, on Saturday 13 March 2027.
It will be a full day of yoga, good food, fresh air, outdoor bathing and deep rest, with plenty of time to enjoy each part of the experience without feeling rushed.

A different kind of day at PAUS
I first held a summer retreat at PAUS in 2023 and have loved returning there. The combination of yoga, the beautiful outdoor setting and time to relax in the hilltop bathing area works so well.
Returning in March will give the experience a different feel. The contrast becomes part of it: cool air on your face before sinking into a wood-fired hot tub or warming up in the barrel sauna. And if you fancy a sharper contrast, the cold tubs will be there too.
You can move between the bathing areas as much or as little as you like, sit back with a drink, chat with others or find a quiet spot to take in the views. This isn’t a day with a packed timetable or any pressure to do everything.

Warming yoga to begin
We’ll start the day with tea or coffee and time to settle in before moving into a 90-minute yoga practice.
The class will begin slowly, giving you time to arrive in your body, before gradually building into a warming, feel-good flow. We’ll then soften into longer-held stretches and finish with time to rest.
There will be different options throughout, so you can make the practice your own. You don’t need to be especially flexible or experienced at yoga. The focus will be on moving in a way that feels supportive and enjoyable, rather than pushing towards the strongest version of a pose.
Lunch, fresh air and time to unwind
After yoga, we’ll enjoy lunch together at the Hilltop Bistro, beginning with a sharing platter followed by a main course and homemade cakes.
We’ll then head outside for PAUS’s barefoot sensory meadow trail. The trail takes you across a variety of natural surfaces and invites you to slow down, notice the ground beneath your feet and experience the landscape a little differently.
Afterwards, we’ll have plenty of time for hilltop bathing and relaxation. The wood-fired hot tubs, barrel sauna and cold tubs will be reserved for our retreat group, and refreshments during the bathing session will include a glass of prosecco, a G&T or an elderflower pressé.

Ending with sound
At the end of the afternoon, we’ll return indoors for a deeply relaxing sound bath with Gabi from Journey Through Healing.
After the movement, lunch, fresh air and warmth of the bathing experience, we’ll become still and let the whole day settle before heading home.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely. You are very welcome to book by yourself. The day includes a relaxed mix of shared experiences and time to do your own thing, so there is space to connect with others without feeling that you need to be sociable all day.
The retreat is also suitable for all levels of yoga experience. Whether you come to yoga regularly or are returning after some time away, you’ll be encouraged to listen to your body and choose the options that work for you.
