Today in our live-streamed yoga from Rugby, we looked at the Sacral Chakra symbol. It is an orange lotus with six petals. The six petals represent undesirable emotional qualities that at some point, we might need to overcome and are associated with this sacral chakra: anger, jealousy, cruelty, hatred, pride and too much desire.
How much water have you had so far today?
I often find drinking water a bit boring so I like to pop some slices of lime or cucumber and mint leaves into a jug to infuse. It does taste really good!
When the brain does not get enough water, it can lead to headaches and fatigue. The more water your brain loses, the less energy you have and the more tired you get.
In Feel Good Friday Yoga class, we have been looking at the sacral chakra which is associated with our emotions, creativity, joy, sensuality, the colour orange and the element, water.
Today in Feel Good Friday Yoga flow, we continued our water-inspired yoga sequence.
We looked at the link between the water element and the sacral chakra – an energetic wheel that translates so beautifully into “the home of sweetness and enjoyment of life.”

In Feel Good Friday Yoga in Rugby today, we started to explore the element, Water. Up to 60% of our bodies are made of water. It is incredibly easy to lose our sense of fluidity and buoyancy in a world that can feel heavy, tense, rigid, weighed down.
In our yoga class in Rugby, we explored the concept of “change.” What Yoga has understood about being human is that every experience leaves some kind of residue in our system; Something remains in us from every experience that we’ve had over the course of our lifetime. This accumulates and develops into patterns.
In Feel Good Friday Yoga in Rugby, we explored the Lotus Flower “Padma” Mudra. A mudra is a symbolic gesture performed by the hands. It is the Sanskrit word for “energetic seal.” So it is an energetic seal that affects the flow of energy in the body.
Practising specific mudras is an outward representation of your own inward intentions. In yoga, they are generally performed in cross-legged, lotus or hero position.
I remember the moment when one of my yoga teachers said, “…and now in class, you may like to set an intention.” My mind went blank. I had no idea what an intention was all about.
In a nutshell, what you think, you become. Thoughts become things. Intention creates our reality.
Many people think that yoga is all about touching your toes. Although yoga makes you flexible, the main goal of yoga is not about touching your toes. As Jigar Gor once said, “It’s what you learn on your way down.”
In reality, it can take years to be able to touch your toes or to do the splits. So over time, yoga begins to teach us things about ourselves.
